Eight apply for judge vacancy in Shawnee County

TOPEKA—Applications for the district judge vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Jan Leuenberger in the 3rd Judicial District closed today at noon. Eight applications were received.

• James E. “Jeb” Benfer – Attorney in private practice

• Rebecca W. Crotty – Judge, Kansas Court of Tax Appeals

• Barry K. Disney – Assistant Attorney General

• Steven R. Ebberts – Judge, Topeka Municipal Court

• Carl William Ossmann – Attorney, Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services

• Steven M. Roth – Magistrate Judge in Pottawatomie County

• Brian Vazquez – Attorney, Kansas Health Policy Authority

• Gary C. West – Attorney, Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence

Interviews will be conducted at the Shawnee County Courthouse at 9:00 a.m. on July 19, 2010. Interviews are open to the public.
