Veterans Treatment Court

Veterans treatment courts ensure that people who have served in the armed forces and who have a substance abuse disorder or mental health concern receive treatment to help them interrupt a cycle that could lead to incarceration.

Since 2008, the number of veterans treatment courts operating in the U.S. has grown to 334. These courts help save our veterans' lives, families, and futures, while also saving tax dollars.

In late 2020 and early 2021, Chief Justice Marla Luckert and retired Chief Justice Lawton Nuss co-hosted a veterans treatment court webinar series that covered how to start and manage a veterans treatment court.
